The name “Cyber-AUG” has been floating around in the airsoft community for quite some time now, and has become the benchmark for AUG tuners worldwide in all aspects of performance and quality. Quite a few tuning companies have attempted to build one with a reputation just as strong, but most fall a bit short in one aspect or another, not to mention that all Killer Studio guns come with a lifetime warranty.
The Cyber-AUG is considered to be the flagship AEG for Killer Studio, with 3 other variants tuned for specific needs:
Aug SMG 12v overdrive
Far East Dragons Aug
Square Aug
(Both the SMG and FED version are built for high speed rather than power, and are capable of firing 24 rounds per second)
The Cyber-AUG “Square” could aesthetically resemble a weapon used in an anime flick because of the octagon barrel, but it is definitely a unique design that has not been replicated or copied yet.
Killer Studio does not sell this barrel assembly separately so the only way to get this suppressor/barrel combo is to buy the completed custom model. Aside from the barrel though, the rest of the gun exterior looks just like an OEM Tokyo Marui Steyr AUG civilian model.
In addition to giving the gun a better balance, the outer barrel’s primary purpose serves as a fully functional integrated suppressor much like the Predator APS.
This setup considerably dampens the muzzle report far better than most guns unless a remarkably large suppressor is attached.
On a side by side comparison to the Phantom Aug Kit by First Factory, the muzzle report remains the same; but do keep in mind that the Phantom kit has to be assembled at its longest setting, which happens to be nearly twice the length of the Square Aug…
Outer Barrel:
Mechabox:
Internally, this Cyber Aug Square has been upgraded to the Stage 2 version, which basically consists of a full mechbox overhaul.
The stage 2 version upgrade is not based on a Systema M120 or a PDI 170% spring, but rather on their own factory produced spring which has a much softer tension than both of the mentioned springs. However, the velocity output is at a very consistent 452 FPS (with +/- 3 FPS in variation) which is probably why many refer to the stage 2 upgrade as "M120" power.
Although much of the gear noise has been eliminated due to near-perfect tuning, select parts of the outer shell on the mechcase have multiple strips of sound absorbing material applied to further reduce the sound of the gun. Bear in mind that the mechcase is located right under your ear when firing, so this handy mod makes a considerable difference.
Barrel Works Tune:
The barrel works option for the Square is basically a KM SG1 length TN inner barrel that has been electroplated down to an even tighter bore. Although a bit shorter than the standard Aug inner barrel, the range and accuracy the Cyber Aug Square will push is far better than most upgraded augs with a tightbore inner barrel of standard length.
With optics properly zeroed in, you can easily hit a Soda can placed at 130 feet from a benched shooting position with a 90% hit mark in both semi and burst firing.
Extras:
An Aimpoint M2 sight with high mount & a real steel KAC vertical fore grip was added since the Square (or any Cyber Aug variant for that matter) doesn’t include any optics or foregrip.
A custom oversize stainless steel Steyr AUG Speed nozzle has been added that completely eliminates the infamous Aug misfeed problems.
This custom speed nipple is milled from stainless steel and is big improvement over the original "Iban" nozzle which is cut with incorrect dimensions
So where can I get a Cyber Aug? Unfortunately, as of the end of December 2004, you can no longer purchase ANY Killer Studio item unless sourced second hand from a collector. Price range for the Cyber Augs fell between 330USD to 1,400USD, all depending upon model and level of upgrade selected.
